1. Nursing
The following positions exist in Ampath vacancies for nursing posts:
- Enrolled Nurse
- Registered Nurse
In fact, Ampath Laboratories branches across the country are currently in need of a total of 12 people to fill the aforementioned posts.
When you get either of the two roles, you will be responsible for providing quality customer service within the legal-ethical framework of the nursing profession.
And, although the two roles hold different responsibilities in their implementation in the field, the general requirements imposed on candidates are alike, such as:
- A diploma or degree in Nursing;
- SANC registration in a relevant register;
- A valid South African driver licence (Code EB);
- Computer literacy;
- Phlebotomy experience in a laboratory environment; and
- Nursing experience within a hospital and/or laboratory environment.
2. Lab Technician
All branches of Ampath Laboratories are in need of talented lab technicians in the following fields and encourage them to apply for the vacancies:
- Phlebotomy Technician
- Immunology Technician
- Clinpath Technician
- Genetics Technician

- Microbiology Technician
- Technologist
The responsibility of each role includes processing specimens according to set criteria and standards on all benches in the respective field.
Candidates must fulfil the following general requirements to qualify:
- Experience in a laboratory environment;
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA);
- Computer literacy;
- HPCSA qualification in relevant register and practice field; and
- A Grade 12 or Matric certification.
3. Finance/Administration
To ensure the seamless operation of the laboratory, the Ampath Trust requires highly dedicated people to carry out the following roles:
- Client Services Officer
- Call Centre
- Branch Admin Officer
- Marketer
- Supervisor
Clearly, the responsibilities of each of the above roles are different.
For instance, a marketer is required to maintain the image of Ampath and the incorporated practices and to liaise with all relevant clients and promote the practices according to the code of conduct.
On the other hand, an officer has to provide the relevant depot with an effective administrative support service, process financial transactions, and perform administration tasks.
However, although the specific conditions for each role are different, candidates should be able to meet the following general requirements:
- A Grade 12 or Matric qualification or a diploma or degree in the relevant field of study:
- Knowledge of pathology laboratory environment;
- Computer literacy;
- Knowledge of medical terminology; and
- Experience in the chosen field.

4. Transport
The following positions exist in Ampath vacancies for logistics and transport posts:
- Courier
- Motorbike Driver
These roles are responsible for collecting and delivering reports, specimens, and parcels sufficiently and timeously.
To qualify for the positions, candidates are required to fulfil the following requirements:
- A Grade 10 qualification;
- Driving experience;
- Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance, National Traffic Rules and Regulations, and relevant geographical area;
- A valid South African driver licence (Code A and EB).
