Bursary Program: The DSAC Bursary Program for the year 2024 exemplifies the department’s commitment to education and skill development within the heritage-related fields. By providing financial support to students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies, DSAC aims to contribute to the preservation and promotion of South Africa’s rich cultural heritage.
Fields Covered: The bursary program encompasses a diverse range of heritage-related programs, including Anthropology, Archaeology, Archives and Records Management, Conservation of the Built Environment, Digital Heritage, Fine Arts, History, Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS), Museum Studies, and Palaeontology.
Financial Support: The bursaries, with a maximum value of R110,000 per student, cover various educational expenses. These include full tuition fees, prescribed books, electronic devices, accommodation, meals, and transport, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder deserving students from pursuing their academic goals.
Eligibility Criteria: The DSAC Bursary Program is designed to support South African citizens who are 40 years old or younger and are either in Matric or have completed Matric. Applicants must be enrolled or intending to enroll in an accredited institution, and their academic records should demonstrate a commitment to excellence. Additionally, applicants should not be currently employed full-time and should have an annual income not exceeding R350,000.

- Anthropology (focused on forensic/medical anthropology)
- Archaeology (focused on marine and underwater cultural heritage, and forensic)
- Archives and Records Management
- Conservation of the Built Environment, including preventive conservation

Benefits: DSAC Bursary 2024
Successful applicants will be awarded bursaries with a maximum value of R110,000 per student. This financial support covers various educational expenses, including:

- Electronic devices (up to R10,000)
- Accommodation (up to R50,000, where applicable)
- Meals (up to R18,500, where applicable)
- Transport (up to R10,000, where applicable)

- South African citizenship
- Age 40 years or younger
- Currently in Matric (in 2023) or have completed Matric

- Not currently employed full-time in the private sector, government, or state agencies
