The profession of Human Resources (HR) is a critical function within organizations across various industries, responsible for managing the most valuable asset of any company: its people. HR professionals play a pivotal role in ensuring that an organization’s workforce is effectively recruited, trained, developed, and retained to achieve its strategic objectives.

Here’s a more detailed overview of the profession of HR:

1. Recruitment and Selection:

  • HR professionals are responsible for attracting and selecting qualified candidates to fill job vacancies within the organization. This involves developing job descriptions, advertising positions, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and coordinating the hiring process.

2. Training and Development:

  • HR professionals identify training needs within the organization and develop programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of employees. They may organize workshops, seminars, and other learning initiatives to support employee development and career progression.

3. Policies and Procedures:

  • HR professionals develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations. They provide guidance to managers and employees on HR-related matters and promote a fair and inclusive work environment.

4. Industrial Relations and Disciplinary Matters:

Eligibility:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar HR role preferred
  • Qualification in HR, Organisational Psychology, or related discipline preferred

  • South African citizenship or valid work permit
  • Trustworthy with a high level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
