PYEI Phase 5 2024 Has Not Yet Opened
As the current phase, PYEI Phase 4 2023, is set to conclude this September, anticipation is growing among South African youth for the upcoming Presidential Youth Employment Initiative Phase 5 (PYEI 2024). However, it’s worth noting that the application process for PYEI Phase 5 2024 has not yet opened.
The PYEI, specifically the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative in the Basic Education Sector (PYEI-BEEI), is a crucial government program aimed at addressing three pressing challenges facing the nation’s youth: unemployment, poverty, and inequality. PYEI-BEEI operates within the basic education sector, primarily in schools, and plays a vital role in the broader recovery program designed to support the country’s young population.
PYEI Creates Job Opportunities for Unemployed
PYEI-BEEI’s primary objective is to create 255,100 job opportunities for unemployed youth aged 18 to 35 across all provinces in South Africa. These job opportunities are expected to be available in various starting groups and starting dates, although most contracts are likely to span from February to September.
The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has developed an orientation program to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills required to support teachers and fulfill their roles effectively within the school environment. This orientation program is expected to be instrumental in helping participants develop essential skills that can enhance their employability once their contracts conclude.
PYEI Orientation Training
The orientation program, which consists of eight lessons, is structured as follows:
Lesson One: Job Profile and Broad Expectations
- Provides insight into job profiles within PYEI-BEEI.
- Outlines roles and responsibilities of participants.
- Identifies the required skills and useful qualities of an assistant.
Lesson Two: Conditions of Employment
- Defines key employment terms and conditions.
- Clarifies payment and deductions.
Lessons Three and Four: Governance and Communication
- Explains the roles of School Governing Bodies and School Management Teams.
- Establishes communication lines and protocol.
Lessons Five and Six: School Safety and Resources for Conducive Working
- Addresses school safety measures.
- Discusses creating a positive working environment.
Lessons Seven and Eight: Professionalism and Performance Reviews
- Emphasizes professional behavior and adherence to the Code of Conduct.
- Outlines the performance review process.
