About SASSA SRD
The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) is financial aid or grant from the South Africa Government to South African Citizens, Asylum Seekers, Refugees, and Special Permit Holders. This financial help is recorded under the Social Assistance Act Number 13 of 2004. In the operational, SASSA as a social security agency will manage the process under the approval of the South African Minister of Finance.

Who are eligible to receive SRD Grant?
All South African Citizens, Asylum Seekers, and Refugees, as well as Special Permit Holders, are eligible to receive SRD Grants.
What is the special eligibility?
To be eligible as a candidate, you must between 18 and 60 years, have inadequate means, do not receive social grants before, do not receive Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), and have financial support from other sources.

How to apply for SASSA SRD R350?
To receive SRD Grants you need to submit applications. To get started, please visit this page: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/. Input your phone number and then click the SMS button at the bottom. Alternatively, you can send a Whatsapp message to 082 046 8553. Please note you have a single chance to apply via one of the above channels because SASSA will only handle one application from every applicant.

How to update the SRD R350 applications?
If you have active SRD R350 applications made since April 2022, you will automatically be counted and receive grants each month until March 2023. To check your SRD R350 grant and update you can submit your South Africa ID number on this page.

To make sure your application is processed and you are eligible to receive SASSA SRD R350 grants, you need to submit your South Africa ID number and phone number that use for registration at this page: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status.
SASSA SRD Online Reconsideration
If you are not satisfied with the decision made by the SASSA SRD office, you can request an online reconsideration. This means that you can submit additional evidence to support your case.
You can also use the online reconsideration form to make changes to your application. This includes adding new documents, changing your personal details, address, mobile number, and banking detail, as well as correcting any mistakes.

SASSA SRD Banking Details
If you need to make changes to your SASSA SRD banking details, you can do so by submitting the ID number below “How do I change my banking details” on the website: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/.
You will receive an SMS with a secure link to your mobile phone number that was registered during the application. Click on the link and follow the instructions. Please be aware of any scams if you never request banking detail updates.
