What is SpecCon learnership?
SpecCon Learning is an initiative of SpecCon Holdings (Pty), one of South Africa’s leading online training providers. SpecCon is also the first e-learning platform to be accredited by MICT SETA. In addition, the SpecCon learnership has been certified by EDTP SETA, LG SETA, MER SETA, Services SETA, TETA, and WR SETA.
SpecCon’s programmes bridge employers and workers. Through these programmes, businesses can train their people to meet industry demands, while at the same time, participants will acquire marketable skills to take advantage of job opportunities.
All SpecCon learnerships lead to an NQF qualification. They consist of theoretical courses and a series of practical training carried out in the workplace.
How does SpecCon deliver the learnership?
The following are the stages that learners need to go through in a SpecCon learnership:
1) Theory
Learners study the theories of a field online. Upon application, they will receive access to the SpecCon e-learning LMS and a PDF version of the manuals. They include monthly contact sessions for 12 months organized via webinars.
2) Formative Assessments
To complete a learnership, participants must first pass a formative assessment in each standard unit. The assessments ensure that learners understand the theoretical components, and are ready for summative assessments.
They can be a written report, a case study, or a role-play to test learners’ application of the learning material.
3) Summative Assessments
The summative assessments of the SpecCon learnership include an online exam and several practical components in the workplace. This exam will be administered by a verified facilitator from SpecCon who could be an employee of a particular company.
The report produced by a facilitator is then assessed by an assessor and a moderator. If they certify that a student passed the exam, the unit standard will be completed.
4) Practical Application
All learners must keep a logbook for the practical application of theories. Basically, the learnership is 30% theory and 70% practice.
Is SpecCon learnership online?
Yes, it is! You can take any programme from SpecCon learnership online at your fingertips. The learnerships are based on a scalable, user-friendly and interactive learning management system (LMS).
An e-learning LMS is an application or software that administers, documents, tracks, reports, automates, and delivers educational courses and training programs. Through the system, employers who register with SpecCon as a provider of learnerships can create, design, and deliver their own learning content via a website or mobile app.
SpecCon learnerships will save you time and money. With online learning, you can access content anytime, anywhere.
How long is a SpecCon learnership?
SpecCon lessons last for 12 months. Upon completion, you will be awarded with a qualification in your chosen field. The certificate has been verified and accredited by the relevant authorities. Through the possession of this certificate, your employability in your dream industry will increase.

Who can do the learnership?
SpecCon learnerships are open to working staff or unemployed youth to help them gain skills and work experience. Most importantly, the best thing about a learnership is that it does not affect the employment contract of current employees. Simply put, they will just have to sign a learnership agreement.
Furthermore, participants who are currently unemployed may have the opportunity to be employed by a learnership organizing company at the end of the program if they meet the given criteria.
When is the application for the class available for application?
Interested participants can apply to their chosen programs at any time. Then, SpecCon will consider incoming applications whether they meet the requirements.
However, SpecCon does not guarantee the availability of any of these courses. In other words, you may need to wait a while for SpecCon to conduct your dream learnership. Availability of the learnerships is subject to change, depending on the conditions of the SpecCon partner companies.
How to apply to a SpecCon learnership?
First, you should decide what area you want to study and discuss the plan with your supervisor regarding the availability of the learnership in that area. Or, if you are currently unemployed, you can visit the official SpecCon website directly at speccon.co.za to browse the catalog of the available learnerships and apply online.
Each learnership has certain conditions, while some do not. Therefore, check the information posted on the official SpecCon website to confirm whether you are qualified for the programme.
Will I receive a stipend?
That depends on your current state. If you are unemployed at the time of application, you will receive a stipend while you join the course. In other words, the allowance will cover the costs you have to pay while taking the learnership such as travel and food.
On the other hand, if you are already employed, you will only receive your normal salary.
