Vodacom Group Limited, or Vodacom, is a South African mobile communications company that provides voice, messaging, data and convergence services to more than 55 million subscribers.

1. Cloud Machine Learning Engineer

Working as a cloud machine learning engineer means you will be delivering through yourself and others to use your ML/AI knowledge and combine it with software engineering and programming skills to enable access to machine learning models.

In addition, you will also be responsible for supporting local markets and group functions in obtaining business value from ML.

Your day-to-day duties will include designing and developing ML systems and automating predictive modelling software.

The best candidate for this role will have:

  • IT or IS degree or diploma in related field;
  • A relevant cloud certification at professional or associate level;
  • Exposure to Agile, Kanban or Scrum.

2. Cloud Data Ops Engineer

This is the job of a cross-functional person responsible for data ingestion pipelines, monitoring and quality.

This includes automating data monitoring, alerting and checking across various stages of data transformation and projection.

Consequently, you’ll have to ensure that data quality controls are inherent in the company’s data ingestion patterns and data governance to serve quality and trusted data to all customers.

  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics or Data Science;
  • Relevant cloud certification at professional or associate level;

3. Digital Media and Planning Specialist

The role is accountable for growing and driving customer engagement across all relevant digital platforms, including customer adoption of digital sales and self-service channels.

Also, the role will provide clear direction for all digital media strategy and planning across the whole Vodacom business, working in close coordination with the Brand, Segment, Product and Digital Channel squads.

The successful candidate will fulfil the product owner role working directly with fully stacked development teams.

  • Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate;
  • Experience with e-commerce;
  • Product development skills;
  • Expert knowledge and experience in digital sales delivery;

5. Dev Ops Engineer

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for delivering, maintaining, and optimizing infrastructure, database, and middleware capabilities to support and enable the development and operations of applications and solutions.

Also, this role is responsible for reviewing solution designs, understanding their impact on application/infrastructure, building and implementing infrastructure and applications, and monitoring, maintaining, and supporting the operational environments.

In addition, the candidate in this role is responsible for providing technical expertise to team members and other technical/business areas.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Knowledge and experience of web services, SOAP, RESTful interfaces and XML;
  • Experience working closely with agile methodologies, such as Scrum and XP;
  • Strong knowledge of automation frameworks and tools; and
  • Excellent problem-solving ability in complex environments.
