About Department of Transport EC Internship Programme

The Eastern Cape Department of Transport frequently offers 24-month internships to young South Africans. All of your university knowledge and skills can come into play during this programme, which will offer you a taste of what it is like to work in a South African government agency.

As part of your internship, you will be assigned a supervisor who will be accountable for your care and guidance. You may be offered a full-time employment with the department at the end of the internship, depending on the needs of the body.

General Requirements

First of all, candidates must be less than 35 years of age and be residents of the Eastern Cape Province. Furthermore, they must be active in organisational skills and have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Learning-oriented individuals, with a strong work ethic, are preferable. Most importantly, applicants must be fully available for the two years of the internship.

What You’ll Need to Apply for the Department of Transport EC Internship Programme

To apply, you will need to submit the following documents:

  • A fully completed Z83 form obtainable from all government departments or DPSA website
  • An updated Curriculum Vita (CV)
  • A copy of RSA Identity Document
  • A copy of certificate(s)
  • Copies of transcripts
  • Current legitimate proof of residence

Copies of your documents need to be certified when applying for a post in the Department of Transport EC Internship Programme. However, note that communication from the HR of the department regarding the requirements for certified documents will be limited to shortlisted candidates.

Therefore, only shortlisted candidates for a post will be required to submit certified documents on or before the day of the interview following communication from HR.

4. District Management

5. ICT Programme

  • Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or National Diploma in IT and System Support and Development with no work experience

6. Road Safety

  • Monthly Stipend: R6 083.70
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Public Relations, Project Management, Public Administration, Developmental Studies, or Social Science with no work experience

7. Public Transport

  • Monthly Stipend: R6 083.70
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Transport Economics or Transport Management with no work experience

8. Scholar Transport

  • Monthly Stipend: R6 083.70
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Public Administration or Public Management with no work experience

9. HOD’s Office

  • Monthly Stipend: R6 083.70
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Public Administration, Public Management, or Office Administration with no work experience

10. DDG’s Office

  • Monthly Stipend: R6 083.70
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Public Administration, Public Management, or Office Administration with no work experience

11. CFO’s Office

Candidates who do not comply with the above will be disqualified. No faxed, emailed, and hand delivered CVs will be accepted. Successful candidate will be expected to sign a 24-month internship contract.
