Risk management is enormously complex. Standard Bank partners with businesses to understand credit risk to optimizing their returns, but the Bank also assesses a range of other areas including financial, economic, legal, political, regulatory, environmental and reputational risks.
The CIB Risk Management Internship is an intensive program for those with ambitions to be part of this growing and exciting team, that lead its investment decisions, as it seeks to understand the challenges and opportunities of Africa. The duration of this internship program is 4 weeks.

Standard Bank Internships are available to students in their final year of study (Honors level, or a 4-year degree course). The Bank’s Graduates come from a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences. The Bank recruits from a wide range of degree disciplines. These include Business Science, Economics, Financial Math, Risk Management, Financial Management, and Investment Management.
Standard Bank seeks candidates who are highly motivated, with a commercial focus, curiosity, passion for problem solving and drive to innovate. You should be able to think on your feet, enjoy being challenged and demonstrated good attention to detail. Teamwork is key, and Standard Bank looks for candidates that bring a degree of humility, collaboration and willingness to roll up your sleeves.
Within the CIB Internship Program, accommodation will be provided for all candidates at Standard Bank’s Global Leadership Center for the duration of the program, including a monetary stipend to cover living expenditure. The Standard Bank internship will be hosted in the Bank’s Rosebank offices (30 Baker Street, Johannesburg).
Applying for Standard Bank Internships
In order to start your application for the Standard Bank Internships, you will need to create an account, complete your application and attach your Curriculum Vitae (CV).
If your pass teh first screening, Standard Bank will invite you to interview on campus, at its offices or over the phone. The Bank may ask you back for a further interview or psychometric test.
The last step, and the most intensive, is the assessment. At Standard Bank’s Global Leadership Center, you will be taking part in a range of interviews, presentations and team exercises while getting the opportunity to network with some of the Bank’s senior bankers.
